“Are people even reading my emails?” It’s a worry that we’ve all had at some point or another and it’s so common because it’s true! Do your subscribers read, interact, appreciate, HECK… even open your emails?
Before you get too bogged down in the dangerous downward spiral of negative self-talk, read these tips for getting your subscribers to read your emails:
Email Marketing Tips
Strike While The Iron’s Hot
Got a new subscriber? Send them an email within their first day to forge a relationship while you’re still fresh in their minds.
Don’t Act Like A Robot
It’s always a good idea to be more empathetic than not. So remember how you feel when you receive an email from a massive, impersonal listserv. Feeling like just another number is no fun so don’t do it to others and make sure that the email comes from a real person’s email address.
Write In The Same Voice
Regardless of the size of your email marketing team, it’s incredibly important to keep the “voice” consistent. If your first email is upbeat and cheerful, make sure all the rest follow suit.
Keep An Eye On The Numbers
If you’re not viewing each new email as a test, you’re missing out on an opportunity for growth. You should always track how each email you send is performing and make changes accordingly so that you’re giving yourself the best chance at optimization.
Remember That Less Is More
We know how many emails we delete each day so we’re really not looking to delete one more. Keep that in mind the next time you go to send an email. If what you have to say isn’t useful or time-sensitive, don’t send it!
Here’s 1 Reason To Listen To Us
You know what’s cool about numbers? They tend to stand out more in a block of text. So if you want people to pay attention to your email subject line or important details, consider the addition of some numbers!
Avoid Unnecessary Buzzwords
There’s a reason why buzzwords earn the title of “buzzword.” Why you ask? Because they are representative of the latest “buzz” and are (more than likely) overused. So don’t clutter your emails with them! Instead, find a new and unique way of saying the same thing that will stand out. For example, instead of telling readers to “practice email testing,” tell them that “it’s time to start tinkering with your emails.”
Keep Up With Tech
What vibrates, lights up, and never leaves my hand? Yep, it’s my phone! When it comes to email, if you’re not creating content that is mobile-friendly, you’re in for a world of hurt.
Become An Apprentice
Struggling to come up with email marketing ideas? Well if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! And by that, we mean you should subscribe to popular email marketer’s lists and learn from the masters. Then every morning, pay attention to the different emails you receive and take note of what could work for your business.
If email marketing still feels about as complicated as the theory behind black holes, you’re not alone!
